Automated Tracking System

Using the ATS

Each time you start the ATS you need to select the election. This is a safety, to assure that you are always entering data for the correct election. At any one time it is possible to have multiple elections in process, including the main election, a test election for the staff, and a training election.
Second, you need to select the precinct of interest. You will cycle through all precincts for each stage in the election processing.
Election processing goes through the following basic stages:
Preliminary Testing Compact flash cards are assigned to each iVo, sealed in place. A PEB is assigned to each iVo for the L&A testing. The iVo is configured (e.g., date and time) and cleared and tested. Temporary precinct assignments may be made. A report listing the status and assignments of all equipment is generated.
Envelopes to go to the precinct for seals and flash cards are prepared.
L&A Testing The L&A test suite is performed, including optional testing if required. The iVo is cleared and tested and made ready for the election. A report listing all tests performed and the current status of all equipment is generated.
Test and Seal The configuration is confirmed including correct date and time, precinct, etc. If the terminal is opened prior to election day morning that is done and the terminal locked. The booth is closed and sealed. A report of all equipment tested, showing current status, is generated. A second report listing all equipment delivered to the precinct is created.
Post-Election Return All equipment and seals are inventoried and compared to the expected state. A report of all returned items and any exceptions is generated.

Additional activities not directly related to a specific election include: assignment of equipment to specific precincts; entering service activity; and viewing or reporting on equipment status.
